Lions compete at Tyson and Pitt State Invites

Joplin, Mo. -- The Missouri Southern men's track and field team competed at both the Tyson Invitational and the Pittsburg State Classic tonight. 

Aki Nummela placed seventh in the 800 meters at Arkansas with the top Division II time of 1:53.69. 

At Pitt, Seth Hackney had a provisional distance of 54-1.25 in the shot put and placed second in the event. Kyle Hancock was tenth, while placing 16th in the weight throw. Tyler Burgess was 29th in the weight throw.

Corey Shumate placed second in the pole vault after a jump off. He had a provisional height of 15 feet, nine inches. Michael Juergens was fourth and DJ Dunmire was fifth.
