St. Joseph, Mo. -- The Missouri Southern golf
team placed fifth today after the final round of the Missouri
Western Fall Invitational at Fairview Golf Club in St.
Joseph.
The Lions were paced by senior Stephen Boyd who improved on his
74 yesterday to shoot a two-under par 72 and finish at par for the
tournament and place 8th individually. Jamie Voegeli shot a 146 and
finished 11th, while freshman Andrew Maier shot a 147 and placed
16th. Freshman Ryan Buerk shot a 151, while senior Andy Hogenmiller
had a 154 and junior Jared Essary was at a 156.
Central Missouri improved on their 286 team score in day one to
a 281 today to win by 13 strokes over second place Washburn.
Missouri Western was third, just four strokes off of Washburn,
while Lindenwood and Missouri Southern made up the top five. Truman
was sixth, followed by Southwest Baptist, Fort Hays, Lincoln and
Pittsburg State.
The Lions will be back in action on October 11-12 at the
Missouri Golf Association Preview. The tournament will take place
at Jefferson City (Mo.) Country Club.
