Jefferson City, Mo. -- The Missouri Southern
golf team finished second overall today at the Missouri Golf
Association Regional Preview. The event serves as the final fall
tournament for the Lions and will weigh heavily in the regional
rankings in the spring.
Jamie Voegeli finished up a strong tournament with a two-under
par 70 today to place third individually with a three-round 216,
just two strokes off of the lead. Stephen Boyd was fourth after
finishing with a three-under 69 and a 217 for the tournament. Andy
Hogenmiller was sixth at a 220, while Seve Smith and Andrew Maier
had a 231 and 235, respectively.
The Lions finished 11 strokes behind first-place Central
Missouri as the Mules shot a 285 as a team in the final round to
take the team title. Missouri-St. Louis also shot a 285 in the
final round to place third, three strokes behind the Lions, while
St. Edward's was fourth, followed by Drury, Newman, Washburn,
Southwest Baptist, and Missouri Western.
Central Missouri's Laurence Noott won the individual title with
a three-round 214. After shooting a 75 in the opening round, he
rebounded with a 69 and a 70 to win by one stroke over Drury's
Thomas Hay.
The Lions will be off for the winter, but will start back up in
the spring.
