Biography

2014-15: Jones played in and started all 27 games helping the Lions to their first 20 win season since 1995-96 while earning her second straight All-MIAA honor...She was voted a second team honoree after finishing 12th in the MIAA in scoring averaging 13.7 points per contest, fifth in rebounding with 7.1 boards per game, ninth in field goal percentage shooting 49.8 percent (118-237) from the floor and fourth in free throw percentage at 84.5 percent (102-129) from the charity stripe....for the season Jones averaged 29.9 minutes in 27 games...led the team in field goal percentage shooting 49.8 percent (122-245)...third on the team in free throw percentage with 83.9 percent (115-137)...led the Lions in rebounding averaging 7.3 per game...also led the Lions in scoring averaging 13.7 points per contest (370)...Jones recorded eight double-doubles on the year, scoring in double figures in 24 of the 27 contests...set a season high with 25 points, four off her career mark, in the MIAA opener at Nebraska-Kearney on December 4th...also set a new career mark with 12 field goals made during that contest...Jones was a perfect 5-for-5 from the floor as the Lions beat Central Christian 101-46 on November 25th...she tied her career mark in three pointers made with two in three different games, most recent was the overtime win at Northwest Missouri on February 11th...tied her career mark in free throws made as she sunk 11 at Southwest Baptist on January 29th...tied career mark in rebounds in a single game as she pulled down 15 in a home win over Central Missouri on January 31st...also recorded three assists three times during the season with the most recent being in a 67-64 loss to former MIAA rival Truman State on December 15th.

2013-14: Jones earned All-MIAA honorable mention honors at guard as a sophomore starting all 27 games for the Lions averaging 13.7 points (12th in MIAA), 6.7 rebounds (14th in MIAA) and 1.6 assists per game...Ranked second on the team with 858 minutes played, 31.8 minutes per contest, while shooting 53.7% (110-205) from the field, finishing third in the MIAA in field goal percentage....Also finished third in the MIAA in free throw percentage shooting 80.6% (137-170) from the charity stripe...Ranked second on the team with 181 rebounds, 68 offensive,and 369 points...Scored in double figures in 21 games registering a season-high 29 points, grabbed a season-high 15 rebounds and snatched a season-high four steals in a win over Southwestern Oklahoma State...Dished out a season-high five assists at Central Oklahoma...Also tallied three double-doubles on the season. 

2012-13: Appeared in all 27 games for the Lions at guard as a freshman, Jones made six starts on the year while averaging 6.1 points, 3.1 rebounds and 1.1 assists per game....Averaging 21 minutes per contest, Jones shot 39.8% (45-113) from the field, 33.3% (14-42) from three-point range and 76.5% (62-81)...Her 62 free throws made and 81 attempts led the team in both categories while her shooting percentage ranked third...Grabbed 83 rebounds on the year ranking fifth on the team...Scored a career-high 17 points while grabbing six rebounds in the Lions two-point win at home over Missouri Western...Grabbed a career-high and team-high 11 rebounds at Fort Hays St. while dishing out a career-best four assists in a win at Lindenwood...Also scored 16 points going 5-for-5 from the field and 2-for-2 from three-point range in a win at home over Southwest Baptist.

Prior to Southern: played at Francis Howell Central High School. A four-year starter for coach Brian Ricker, Jones was a four-time All-Conference and All-District selection, while picking up All-Metro and All-State honors as a senior and being named the GAC South Conference Player of the Year. Jones was named to the All-Tournament teams of three different tournaments each year at FHCHS, while being named the Lutheran High School Tournament MVP in each of her junior and senior seasons. In her four-year career at Howell Central, Jones averaged 16.8 points, 7.4 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.4 steals,while tallying 1,910 points, and 841 rebounds. She averaged 20.4 points as a senior, while averaging 17.0, 17.2 and 12.1 points per game in each of her previous three years. 

Personal: Jones comes from a line of highly successful basketball players as both her father Ron and her sister Shakara played basketball at the University of Missouri. Shakara was a four-year starter for the Tigers and is currently playing professional basketball in Greece. The daughter of Ron Jones and Anita Squires-Jones, Sharese plans to major in Health Promotions at Southern, aspiring to attain a degree in physical therapy.
