Prior to Southern
Yonkers comes to Missouri Southern after a standout career at Mountain Home High School, where she was a four-year letterwinner in basketball and also earned two varsity letters in softball. She scored more than 1,000 career points and was a three-time all-conference, all-area and academic all-state selection. As a senior, Yonkers earned all-state honors and helped lead Mountain Home to a state runner-up finish. She capped her high school career as a two-time academic state champion while serving as one of the top guards in the state. As a junior, Yonkers helped lead the Mountain Home Bombers to a final four appearance in the state championships as the team was ranked 14th in the state by MaxPreps. She also was one of the original members of the Iso Basketball Club. Besides basketball, Yonkers also played softball through her sophomore season at Mountain Home HS where she earned two letters as an outfielder.

Jayla, the daughter of Jessica and Derek Yonkers, is undecided on her major at Southern.
