Zack Shaw begins his first year on the staff at Missouri Southern and will serve as Head Strength and Conditioning Coach for football.
Shaw comes to the Lions after serving on the staff at Western Carolina University. Zack Shaw joined the Western Carolina Athletic Performance staff as an intern in January 2017. In the summer of 2017, he was elevated to Assistant Director of Football Training at WCU, as well as the head strength coach for baseball and women’s soccer programs.
During his time in Cullowhee, Shaw added a National Strength & Conditioning Association, Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist Certification.
Shaw is a former football student-athlete at Indiana University where he played 49 games over a four-year career with 24 starts on defense as a linebacker and defensive end. He was credited with 130 career tackles including 84 solo stops. Shaw recorded nine career sacks for 63 yards in losses as a part of 25.5 tackles for 117 yards in total losses. He earned honorable mention All-Big Ten from the Coaches in 2015 and BTN.com All-Big Ten Freshman team honors in 2012. He additional earned the Hoosier Iron Award for outstanding performances in the weight room.
Shaw graduated from Indiana in 2016 with a degree in exercise science
Originally from Coshocton, Ohio, Shaw finished his prep career as his high school’s all-time leader in career tackles with 450, earning first-team All-Ohio Division IV honors, as well as East District Player of the Year, first team East District, and league player of the year as a senior in 2010. He also lettered in track in high school.
