2019 - Appeared in eleven games starting twice for the Lions as a linebacker while also being a part of the all-star team's... Finished the season with 25 tackles (15 solo), 2.5 TFL’s, a sack, recovered a fumble and had five quarterback hurries… Against Emporia State (Nov.9) at home had his first sack of the season… In the season finale against Pittsburg State (Nov. 16) had a season high seven tackles... One of 16 Lions to be named on the first-year or transfer MIAA Academic Honor Roll. 

Prior to Southern - Vander Velden was a three-year letter winner for both football and basketball at Wabash High Schoool ... Playing under coach Adam Handley, Vander Velden was a two-time All-Conference and two-time Academic All-Conference pick on the football field ... in his career, he finished with 208 tackles, 22 for a loss, five sacks, eight interceptions, six forced fumbles and five fumble recoveries ... on the offensive side, he caught 103 passes for 1,352 yards and 13 touchdowns ... He was also an All-Conference pick on the basketball court.

Personal - Logan is the son of Logan and Alee Vander Velden and plans to major in health science at Southern.
