Jon Clark

Jon Clark is back on the coaching staff at Missouri Southern for his second stint in the Green and Gold. It is his ninth season overall overall as a collegiate coach, and he will serve as the Defensive Backs Coach working with the cornerbacks.

Clark spent 2021 on the staff at MIAA foe Central Oklahoma and was on the Lions' staff for the 2019 season. 

Prior to arriving at MSSU, Clark came from Garden City Community College where he coached the Defensive Backs for the 2018 Jayhawk Conference Champions and earned an appearance in the NJCAA National Championship Game.

Clark came to Garden City from the University of Nebraska where he had the opportunity to coach five current NFL defensive backs. From 2016-2017 Clark served as a defensive assistant at Nebraska. At Nebraska, he focussed on the Husker secondary, and assisted with an NU defense that was among the nation's most improved units against the pass in the 2016 season. Clark served as a graduate assistant coach in 2015.

Clark spent the 2014 season as the Safeties Coach at East Texas Baptist University in Marshall, Texas and prior to that, he was the Defensive Coordinator and Secondary Coach for Canyon State Academy High School (Arizona) in 2013.

Prior to Canyon State Academy, Clark was a student assistant at Arizona State and helped with the development of defensive backs. During his coaching stint at Arizona State, the team appeared in the 2011 MAACO Bowl vs. Boise State.

Before coaching, Clark was a defensive back for Arizona State from 2007 to 2010. Clark graduated in 2012 with a bachelor’s degree in sociology and family studies and he is a native of Arlington, Texas.
