This is Octavio Sanchez's first year as the Assistant Baseball and Pitching Coach at Missouri Southern.
Before joining the Lions, Sanchez served as a Graduate Assistant Baseball Coach at Rogers State University in 2025, where he also played from 2021 to 2024. During his playing career, he earned 2× MIAA Honorable Mention honors, ranks second all-time in saves at Rogers State, and finished third all-time in saves in the MIAA conference.
In the summer of 2025, Sanchez was the pitching coach for the Spearfish Sasquatch of the Independence League Baseball (ILB) in Spearfish, South Dakota. The team won the league championship, and his pitching staff ranked in the top three in multiple categories, including ERA, WHIP, batting average against, and strikeouts.
Prior to that, Sanchez spent three years as a pitching instructor at Cutternation Baseball Training, a data-driven baseball facility located in San Diego, California.
A native of San Diego, Sanchez earned both his Bachelor’s degree (2023) and MBA (2025) in Sports Management from Rogers State University.
