Prior To Southern
Grimes played the 2023 season at Hutchinson Community College, capping off a historic career with the Blue Dragons. As a freshman, she earned All-American Second-Team honors, was named Jayhawk East Player of the Year and Freshman of the Year, and was a two-time All-KJCCA selection. She also set program records for RBIs and runs scored. Over her career, Grimes posted a slash line of .460/.497/.749, recording 143 hits, seven triples, 16 home runs, and 57 stolen bases in 59 attempts. In 311 at-bats, she struck out only 12 times.
Defensively, she recorded 191 assists, helped turn 11 double plays, and registered 134 putouts in the infield. At Andale High School, she played for coach Chuck Scrader in softball and coach Kaylie Bergkamp as a volleyball libero. Grimes was an All-Conference shortstop First-Team, 4A State All-Tournament honoree, and an All-State libero in volleyball.

Madison "Dink", the daughter of Mary Nilles and Darin Grimes, is pursuing a degree in Sports Management at Southern.
