Biography

2014-15 - Appearing in all 31 contest Wright started in 27 and averaged  26.7 minutes a game and 9.5 ppg ... most of Wrights scoring came from beyond the arc as 80 percent of his points came from three pointers on 48.8 percent shooting (79-for-162) which was the highest on the team ... the 79 three pointers set a Missouri Southern single-season record ... he added 45.1 (96-for-213) percent shooting from the floor overall and 72.7 (24-for-33) percent from the line ... Wright also brought 1.5 rpg 20 assists 2 blocks and 7 steals to the table for the lions.  

2013-14: Wright played in 30 games as a sophomore for the Lions where he led the team in three point shooting, making 69-140 (.493) ... That mark set a new MSSU single-season record for three point field goal percentage and Wright currently has the top career mark, as well (.445) ... He needed just six more made three pointers to rank in the top five in Division II 3FG% ... Wright finished the season with a three pointer in every game except four, including making a shot from long-range in his final 17 games to end the year ... He scored 23 points twice and hit 7-7 from long-range against Arkansas Tech, tying an MSSU single-game record ... Wright finished the season averaging 8.8 points and 1.3 rebounds, while scoring 263 points and shooting .503 from the field and .493 from beyond the arc. 

2012-13: Appeared in 23 of the Lions 28 games at guard as a true freshman leading all freshman in scoring averaging 5.5 ppg while averaging 14.7 minutes per contest...Shot 41.2% (47-114) from the field while hitting 36.3% (29-80) from beyond the three-point line...Recorded five double-digit scoring games, including a season-high 24 points in a win at Lincoln where he hit a season-high six treys...Attempted 10 three-pointers at Central Oklahoma, a season-high by a Lion.  

Prior to Southern - Wright played at Bixby High School for coach Scott Padek and the Spartans. A three-year starter and four-yearletter winner on the basketball court, Wright averaged 12.6 points per game last year as a junior, while shooting 47 percent from the field, 41 percent from the three point line and 79 percent from the free-throw line. He was an All-Conference pick, as well as an Academic All-Conference selection and Oklahoma Hoops listed him as one of the elite shooters in the state. Wright was also a quarterback and a wide receiver on the football team.

Personal- The son of Steve and Kari Wright, Austin plans to major in business at Southern.
