2022 - VanWey emerged from the bullpen and became one of the better pitchers in the MIAA and region ... Finished the season with a 7-3 record in 14 starts ranging 83 innings with 123 strikeouts and only 25 walks while holding opposing batters to a .199 average with a 3.47 ERA, 1.02 WHIP while also having a complete game shutout and being involved in two further shutouts as well ... From his fifth start to the end of the season went 7-1 in 66.1 innings of work with a 2.04 ERA, 99 strikeouts, 16 walks issued, 0.77 WHIP, 13.4 strikeout per nine rate to only 2.2 walks per nine and threw 1,027 pitches ... Threw a season-high 14 strikeouts against Fort Hays State (April 2nd) in seven innings ... Had seven games with 10 or more strikeouts with a streak of four and three ... Pitched at least 6.0 innings in 10 straight games to end the season ... Limited Central Oklahoma (March 13) to only one hit in seven innings of work while striking out 11 and walking only one in a shutout win for the Lions.

2021 - VanWey appeared in nine games for the Lions as a relief pitcher ... Posted a 2-0 record after 14.1 innings of work finishing with 24 strikeouts and issued out seven walks while picking up three saves and limited opposing batters to a .250 batting average. 

2020 - VanWey appeared in nine games for the Lions as a relief pitcher... Posted a 0-1 record after 9.1 innings of works allowed three runs on three hits with five walks and 16 strikeouts picking up six saves while maintaining a 2.89 ERA... Defensively posted a 1.000 fielding percentage with a putout.

2019 – VanWey pitched in 27 games games … He posted a 0-1 record and had 19.2 innings of work where he allowed 16 runs (12 earned) on 17 hits with 12 walks and 31 strikeouts. He maintained an 5.49 ERA through 95 batters faced… he had an .833 fielding percentage with one putout and four assists.

2018 - As a true freshman, VanWey was an All-MIAA selection after proving to be one of the Lions' best options out of the bullpen ... he finished with a 2.05 ERA, three saves, 28 strikeouts in 22.0 innings pitched and just eight walks, limiting batters to a .238 average. 

Prior to Southern - VanWey prepped at nearby Webb City High School where he was a pitcher for the Cardinals and coach Gary Highfill ... Was a second-team All-Conference pick as a senior. 

Personal - VanWey is the son of Chris and Brittany VanWey and is a business major at Southern.
