Biography

2015 - Wood played in and started 44 games at shortstop for The Green & Gold...a consistent hitter for the Lions she finished the season batting .291, her previous season were .291 (2013) and .292 (2014)...Wood was second on the team in doubles with eight and hit a two run home run, her only one of the season, against Illinois-Springfield on February 13...she has a season-high two RBIs five times...she had two games on the year with a 1.000 batting average when she went 4-for-4 against UIS and a 2-for-2 performance in game two of a MIAA double header with Northeastern State on April 26.

2014 - Wood earned All-MIAA honorable mention honors at shortstop as a sophomore starting 50 games hitting .292 from the dish collecting 49 hits in 168 at-bats...Appearing in 51 total games, Wood led the Lions with four triples, fifth in the MIAA, while finishing second on the team with 25 runs and nine doubles and third with 26 RBI's...Also smacked two home runs and totaled 72 total bases while slugging .429 and an on-base percentage of .318...Swiped five steals in six attempts...Led the team with 120 assists, fifth-most in the MIAA....Also ranked fifth on team with 79 putouts...Totaled 14 multi-hit games, including four three-hit games in a non-conference game against Pittsburg State and MIAA games versus Lincoln, Lindenwood and Pittsburg State...Hit .300 in MIAA games collecting 27 hits, 15 runs scored and 14 RBI's...Named to MIAA Academic Honor Roll.

2013 -  Starting all 50 games at shortstop as a true freshman for Southern, Wood hit .291 on the year collecting 44 hits in 151 at-bats scoring 21 runs while hitting nine doubles, a triple and a home run. Driving in 20 runs and totaling 58 bases, Wood led the Lions in assists with 97 from shortstop. Had a season-high three hits twice on the year in wins over Arkansas-Monticello and Illinois-Springfield while scoring a season-high three runs against the UIS Prairie Stars as well. Drove in a season-high three runs on her first career home run at Washburn.

Prior to Southern - Was a four year starter at shortstop and letter winner for Coach Scanland and the Lady Blue jays of Raytown High School in the Kansas City area...earned all-district and all-conference honors all for years while at RHS.  

Personal - Majoring in veterinary medicine at Missouri Southern...daughter of Gary and Debbie Wood and is the youngest of three children.
