JOPLIN, Mo. – Missouri Southern football helped make a special wish come true Saturday, ahead of the Lions' home opener against Upper Iowa at Fred G. Hughes Stadium.

Seven-year-old Caleb, a joyful and empathetic boy who loves spending time outside with his family, watching football and basketball, playing video games, building with LEGO and playing with Hot Wheels, was honored during the Lions' home opener as part of his wish experience through Make-A-Wish®.

Caleb's wish to visit Walt Disney World was granted, an experience his family hopes will give him something to look forward to and help him move forward from the challenges of his medical journey.

"This wish could give Caleb something that is his, and experience that he wants and can help overcome the trauma from his medical journey," Caleb's mom, Lee Ann, said prior to Saturday's wish announcement.

Caleb's love of football made his experience at Fred G. Hughes Stadium especially fitting. He had the opportunity to meet members of the 2026 Lions and had his football signed by starting quarterback Tillman Martin. He was also was surprised with a MSSU Lions football jersey.

Football and basketball are Caleb's favorite sports, and watching football is one of his favorite pastimes. His passion for the game made Saturday's home opener a memorable part of his wish experience.

Missouri Southern Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) was proud to partner with Make-A-Wish Missouri & Kansas to create a memorable experience for Caleb and his family and help send him one step closer to his dream of visiting Walt Disney World.
