Brayden Luikart's solo home run in the fourth inning, Missouri Southern could not overcome a six-run eighth inning by Northwest Missouri.
Brayden Luikart's early contributions helped Missouri Southern take an initial lead against the Bearcats. Luikart doubled down the right field line in the second inning and later scored on
Blake Jones' RBI single, putting the Lions up 1-0 in the second inning. Luikart continued his momentum in the fourth inning with a solo home run, extending Southern's lead to 2-0 at the end of four innings.
The Bearcats responded in the sixth inning, with Michael Good's two-RBI single tying the game at 2-2, which remained the score through six innings.
The eighth inning proved pivotal for Northwest Mo. St., as they scored six runs on four hits, including a two-RBI single by Jordi Ventura and a series of hit-by-pitches that furthered the rally.
