KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Missouri Southern's Owen Schneider was named the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association Baseball Pitcher of the Week, the league announced Monday.
 
Schneider went 1-0 over his one appearance this week. The leftie from St. Louis, registered a 1.17 ERA over the week. 
 
The redshirt junior pitched 7.2 innings allowing just one earned run on two hits with a season-best seven strikeouts in the Missouri Southern series-opening 9-3 victory over Washburn.
 
The MIAA weekly honor is the first for Schneider in his career at Missouri Southern. It also marks the second MIAA Pitcher of the Week laurel for MSSU this season after Michael Mulhollon earned the honor on March 2. 
 
MSSU next take the field at Warren Turner Field with a Tuesday midweek matchup against Newman University before hosting the Tigers of Fort Hays State University for a three-game series Friday through Sunday in Joplin.
