KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Missouri Southern student-athletes
Jamale Williams and
Dailynn VanDeren swept the MIAA (Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association) Men's and Women's Field Athlete of the Week honors, the league announced Tuesday afternoon.

Williams won the shot put at Missouri Southern's 2026 Lion Open with a career-best throw of 18.79m (61-7.75). The distance was an NCAA Qualifying mark. Williams now ranks third all-time in MSSU program history for the event. In NCAA Division II, he ranks fourth for shot put this season.
The Leavenworth, Kansas, native, also had a weight throw mark of 51-6.5 (15.71m, 11th) at the 2026 Lion Open.
The weekly MIAA honor is the first of Williams' collegiate career.
Pittsburg State's Ilias Garcia was honored as the back-to-back MIAA Track Athlete of the Week.
Dailynn VanDeren
VanDeren captured both the shot put and weight throw titles at Missouri Southern's 2026 Lion Open. She won the shot put with a career-best 16.71m (54-10) to improve on her Missouri Southern school record. VanDeren ranks second in NCAA Division II for shot put this season.
The Bolivar, Missouri, native, also won the weight throw with a distance of 19.52m (64-0.5). She ranks fifth in NCAA Division II for weight throw in 2025-26.
She has now won all 10 events she has competed in this indoor season.
The weekly MIAA honor is VanDeren's second of her collegiate career after previous picking up the laurel after week two of the 2025-26 season.
