Six Lions Earn All-MIAA Honors

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association announced its postseason awards and All-MIAA teams for the 2025 baseball season. Eighty-seven NCAA Division II student-athletes from all 13 MIAA baseball teams earned postseason honors, highlighted by the Association's six major award winners.

Gold Glove / All-MIAA Second Team Outfield
Drew Townsend
25 | OF | Sr.| Kansas City, Mo.
Townsend was a mainstay in the lineup, starting all 50 games this season. He put together an impressive .369 batting average and a 1.120 OPS over 203 at-bats. He crossed the plate 63 times and notched 75 hits, which featured 15 doubles, two triples, and 11 home runs. He drove in 29 runs and racked up 127 total bases, giving him a .626 slugging percentage. Townsend also showed patience at the plate, drawing 43 walks and getting hit by a pitch 8 times to post a .494 on-base percentage. He ranked in the top ten in nine different statistical categories in the MIAA. The senior recorded 86 putouts and two assists in the field and finished with a .978 fielding percentage.
 
Gold Glove / All-MIAA Third Team Outfield
Brayden Luikart
24 | OF | Jr. | St. Joseph, Mo.
Luikart anchored the Lions' outfield, starting all 50 games in center field. Defensively, he was, finished with 122 putouts, four assists, and just one error for an .992 fielding percentage. At the plate, Luikart posted a .338 batting average and a .946 OPS through 201 at-bats. He scored 35 runs and produced 68 hits, including nine doubles, three triples, and six home runs. He tallied 50 RBIs, accumulated 101 total bases, and slugged .502. He also drew 30 walks and was hit by a pitch 10 times.

All-MIAA Third Team Outfield
Ethan Clark

28 | OF | Jr. | Lindenhurst, Ill.
Clark played in 49 games, starting all of them. He posted a batting average of .336 and an OPS of .920 over 217 at-bats. Clark scored 36 runs and collected 73 hits, including 14 doubles, two triples, and eight home runs. He drove in 54 runs and totaled 115 bases, resulting in a slugging percentage of .530. He drew 13 walks, was hit by a pitch eight times, and recorded an on-base percentage of .390. Additionally, he tallied three sacrifice flies, three sacrifice bunts, and successfully stole two bases. Defensively, Clark collected 36 outs, with two assists for a perfect 1.00 fielding percentage.

All-MIAA Third Team Designated Hitter
Jacob Filip
29 | C | Jr. | Lindenhurst, Ill.
Filip saw action in 43 games, earning 40 starts. He delivered a .315 batting average and a .942 OPS across 143 at-bats. He scored 38 runs and totaled 45 hits, which included 8 doubles and 5 home runs. Filip drove in 24 runs and racked up 68 total bases for a .476 slugging percentage. His on-base skills were evident as he collected 18 walks and was hit by a pitch a team-leading 25 times, helping him reach base at a .466 clip. He also contributed three sacrifice flies and laid down two sacrifice bunts during the season. Filip set a new MSSU single-season record for times hit by pitch against Rogers State (April 27), setting a new record at 24.
 
All-MIAA Honorable Mention Catcher
Chayton Beck
14 | C | Sr. | Liberty, Mo.
Beck provided a steady presence behind the plate, appearing in 41 games with 34 starts. Defensively, he was heavily involved, recording 258 putouts, 46 assists, and four errors for a .987 fielding percentage. Offensively, Beck finished with a .276 batting average and a .729 OPS in 123 at-bats. He scored 25 runs and had 34 hits, including seven doubles and one home run. He drove in 16 runs and amassed 44 total bases, resulting in a .358 slugging percentage. Beck also drew 18 walks, was hit by a pitch once, and chipped in 1 sacrifice fly and four sacrifice bunts.
 
All-MIAA Honorable Mention Utility
Nate Mieszkowski
23 | INF | Sr. | Grayslake, Ill.
Mieszkowski showcased his versatility across 50 games, starting each contest at multiple positions throughout the season. He averaged a .286 batting average and a .851 OPS over 189 at-bats. He crossed the plate 40 times and produced 54 hits, featuring nine doubles and seven home runs. He collected 32 RBIs and logged 84 total bases for a .444 slugging percentage. He drew 27 walks at the plate and was hit by a pitch 13 times, boosting his on-base percentage to .407. He also notched two sacrifice flies and swiped six bases. Mieszkowski tallied 130 putouts and 69 assists in the field and posted a .961 fielding percentage to cap off a solid all-around season.
