Kansas City, Mo. - The MIAA released their weekly baseball Athlete of the Week honors Monday afternoon, Southern winning both awards. For the fourth time this year, third straight week, Cole Gayman was named the Pitcher of the Week. Henry Kusiak picked up his second Hitter of the Week award as well.    

Cole Gayman pitched Friday in the opening game of Missouri Southern's series with Washburn. In that contest, he tossed 8.0 scoreless innings, getting credit for a combined shutout as the team won 3-0. He struck out 7 batters, giving up just 3 hits and 2 walks, holding the Ichabods to a .107 average. 

Henry Kusiak started all four games for the Lions, helping the team to a 3-1 week that featured a series win over the Washburn Ichabods. He recorded a .563 batting average with a 1.250 slugging percentage, going 9-16 at the plate which consisted of 3 home runs and 2 doubles. As a result, Kusiak drove in 8 runs and scored 6 himself. Additionally, he drew 3 walks and went 2-2 in stolen base attempts. 

The team will play at home Tuesday afternoon, playing host to Rogers State in their second meeting of the year. Following that midweek contest, the Lions will head to Maryville, Missouri for a three game series against Northwest Missouri.
