Rolla, Mo. - The Missouri Southern track & field teams opened the outdoor portion of their season this weekend, competing at the Miner Invitational hosted by Missouri S&T. The Lions won nine events and 10 hit NCAA qualifying marks over the weekend.

Next up for the Lions is the SBU Bearcats Invitational, as well as the WashU Distance Carnival. Both meets are scheduled to start on Friday, March 29. 

Meet Results:
100m Hurdles

• Mya Ferguson placed 2nd with a time of 14.99sec, and Claire Cole ran a time of 16.46 for 9th place.

110m Hurdles

• JaDarius Pigg and Malachi Pipkin claimed 1st and 2nd respectively, as Pigg ran an NCAA qualifying time of 14.44sec, and Pipkin finished in 14.61sec.

100m Dash

• Cole Barker ran the race in 12.17sec, good for 55th at the meet.

200m Dash

• Emma Hobbs placed 19th with a time of 27.23sec, and Claire Cole took 31st with a time of 27.69sec.

Discus

• Kirsten Womack took 1st in the event, tossing an NCAA qualifying mark of 45.63m, ranking 7th on the MSSU outdoor top-10 list. Briar Gillum finished 2nd with a throw of 43.75m, Mallory Huber placed 6th with a toss of 39.67m, and Aubrey Skinner recorded a throw of 36.11m which was good for 16th. 

Hammer Throw

• Briar Gillum won the event, tossing an NCAA qualifying distance of 56.42m, putting her 5th on the MSSU outdoor top-10 list. Mallory Huber took 3rd with a throw of 52.62m, also an NCAA qualifying mark, and Kirsten Womack recorded a throw of 52.52m for 4th place. Aubrey Skinner placed 19th, throwing a distance of 38.94m.
• Peyton Barton took 3rd in the event, recording an NCAA qualifying throw of 64.30m. Gabe Ford placed 6th, throwing a distance of 55.65m.

High Jump

• Luke Brumit took 1st place in the event, clearing a distance of 1.98m. Brendan Jewell placed 4th with a jump of 1.90m.
• Rylee Darnell jumped 1.55m in the event, claiming a 5th place finish. Claire Cole and Lillian Hart both tied for 16th, clearing the 1.45m mark. 

Javelin

• Susan Moman, Adrianne Casey, and Mackenzie Mayer went 5th, 6th, and 7th respectively, recording throws of 39.81m, 39.33m, and 38.92m. 
• Missouri Southern had the top three finishes, led by Brendan Rozier who won the event with an NCAA qualifying mark of 64.35m. Garrett Strange and Clifton Bridgewater followed at 2nd and 3rd with throws of 61.17m and 59.08m. Ethan Dias took 8th with a toss of 53.35m. 

Long Jump

• Gabrielle McPherson placed 5th with a distance of 5.14m, Lillian Hart recorded a jump of 5.10m for 8th place, and Claire Cole finished 15th at 4.81m.
• Caleb Manning took 2nd, jumping a distance of 7.03m.

Pole Vault

• Katie Candrl won the event with a jump of 3.70m. Mackenzie Moring and Abby Hobbs tied for 3rd after clearing 3.40m. Emma Hobbs took 5th with a jump of 3.25m, and Alyssa Jerome finished 8th after clearing 2.90m. 
• Bastien Franck recorded an NCAA qualifying jump of 4.90m, helping him win the event. Travis Greenfield took 2nd, jumping 4.60m on the day. 

Shot Put

• Briar Gillum took first in the event, recording an NCAA qualifying throw of 14.25m which places her 7th on the MSSU outdoor top-10 list. Kirsten Womack took 4th place with a throw of 13.04m, and Mona Keita placed 8th with a toss of 12.09m.
• Cedric Pearson won the event on the men's side, throwing an NCAA qualifying distance of 16.89m. Gabe Ford also hit an NCAA qualifying mark, taking 3rd with a throw of 16.85m.

Triple Jump

• Lillian Hart took 5th with a jump of 10.67m.
