The Missouri Southern brings a 3-1 record into Tuesday's game after playing four at the Dugan Invitational last Thursday-Sunday. They began the tournament with a big 7-2 victory over #17 Southern Arkansas. Nearly a combined shutout, SAU hit a home run in the ninth to get on the board.
Cole Gayman was the winning pitcher, tossing 6.0 scoreless while giving up just 1 hit and striking out 7. The offense exploded in game two of the weekend, winning 16-4 over Henderson State. Another strong offensive performance occurred on Saturday as the Lions defeated Arkansas-Monticello 10-6. Ouachita Baptist took the final game of the tournament, 8-1.
Four Lions were named to the All-Tournament team:

Scouting the Bulldogs
The Bulldogs enter Tuesday's mid-week contest with a 2-2 record on the young season. Last weekend, SWOSU hosted MIAA-member Missouri Western for a four-game series in Weatherford, OK. That series was split, each team winning two games. The first went to the Griffons 6-2, but the Bulldogs took game two 11-3. MWSU won the third game 11-8, but SWOSU edged the visitors 3-2 in the series finale. In the final game, the Bulldogs trailed 2-1 entering the ninth, but sparked a rally in the final frame to complete the comeback.
Jackson Syring led the club with 6 hits in 13 at-bats, recording 2 doubles and the team's only home run. He drove in 6 runs, scored 4 himself, successfully stole 1 base in his only attempt, and finished with a slash line of .462/.611/.846 with an OPS of 1.457. Geoff Marlow recorded a .333 batting average on the weekend, going 4-12 at the plate. He finished with 3 doubles and 3 runs scored, drawing 3 walks as well. In the final game of the series, he came up clutch with a pinch-hit double to start the rally that ended in a walk-off finish. Markus Coronado made the most of his hits, recording 5 RBI in 3 hits, one of those being a double.
Ernesto Hidrogo was credited with one of the wins over the weekend, tossing 5.0 scoreless innings. He surrendered just 1 hit and 1 walk, striking out 3 batters in the process. Parker Rece threw 5.0 innings in his start, giving up 1 earned run with a no-decision. In his appearance, he gave up just 4 hits and 2 walks, striking out 8 batters. The game was tied 1-1 when he left, but the Griffons went on to score 3 in the eighth and 2 in the ninth for a 6-2 final.
