Lions Prepare For A Big Matchup At Fort Hays State

Hays, Kan. - The Missouri Southern Women's basketball team (19-6, 15-4 MIAA) travel to Hays, Kansas after defeating Nebraska-Kearney 86-75 on the road. Previous to the Lopers, the Lions lost their first two games in 70 days with losses at home to Pittsburg State, 77-66, and Central Missouri, 78-65.

Scouting the Lions
The Missouri Southern Lions travel to Hays, Kansas after defeating Nebraska-Kearney 86-75 on the road. Previous to the Lopers, the Lions lost their first two games in 70 days with losses at home to Pittsburg State, 77-66, and Central Missouri, 78-65.

Krsylyn Jones led the Lions with 23 points (8-12 FG, 3-6 3P), six rebounds and two assists. Ryan Franklin finished with 20 points (9-13 FG), five rebounds and two assists. Kaitlin Hunnicutt posted 19 points (6-14 FG, 4-11 3P), three rebounds and three assists.

Kryslyn Jones leads the Lions in points per game with 12.2 ppg. Three other Lions average double-digit points per game as well, Ryan Franklin (11.8), Kaitlin Hunnicutt (11.2) and Brandi Hudson (10.8). Ryan Franklin also leads the rebounding category with 6.0 rpg.

Scouting the Tigers
The Tigers of Fort Hays State host the Lions after a 20-6 (14-6 MIAA) start to their season. The Tigers are coming off of a big win at home over Pittsburg State, 61-49, after taking a tough loss on the road to Central Missouri, 64-79. Prior to the Jennies, the Tigers went on a three-game win streak with victories over Lincoln on the road, 75-47, and Central Oklahoma, 76-64, and Newman, 76-57, at home.

Leading the scoring for Fort Hays State is Katie Wagner, a 5-11 Junior Guard. Through 26 games, Wagner averages 16.7 points per game, which is second in the MIAA, on 45.7% shooting from the field. Wagner is also a two-time MIAA Athlete of the Week with a most recent week 13 selection.

One other Tiger average double-digits as well, which is Olivia Hollenbeck who averages 12.0 ppg. The leading rebounder for Fort Hays State is also Wagner, who averages 8.5 rebounds per game.
