Lions Look To Continue Win Streak Hosting Northeastern State

Joplin, Mo. - The Missouri Southern Women's basketball team (13-4, 9-2 MIAA) heads back to Joplin to host the Riverhawks of Northeastern State in Leggett & Platt Athletic Center at 5:30 PM for a conference matchup. The MIAA conference leading Missouri Southern Lions most recently won their 10th-straight game against Emporia on the road, 76-43. Previous to the Riverhawks, the Lions defeated Washburn, 69-50, on the road.

Scouting the Lions
The Lions head back to Joplin with a 10-game win streak to host the Riverhawks of Northeastern State. The MIAA conference leading Missouri Southern Lions most recently won on the road at Emporia State, 76-43, and at Washburn, 69-50. Previous to the Ichabods, the Lions defeated Nebraska-Kearney, 72-56, and #15 Fort Hays State, 67-58, at home.

Kryslyn Jones led the Lions with 22 points (7-16 FG, 6-13 3P), six assists and four steals in the 33-point victory over the Lady Hornets. Mira Khan finished with 11 points (4-4 FG, 2-2 3P), four rebounds and a black. Ryan Franklin rounded out the double-digit scoring with 10 points (5-9 FG), six rebounds and six blocks.

Kryslyn Jones leads the Lions in points per game with 12.2 ppg. Three other Lions average double-digit points per game as well, Ryan Franklin (11.5), Brandi Hudson (11.1) and Kaitlin Hunnicutt (10.8). Ryan Franklin leads the rebounding category with 5.9 rpg.

Scouting the Riverhawks
The Riverhawks of Northeastern State travel to Joplin to take on Missouri Southern after a 9-8 (5-6 MIAA) start to their season. The Riverhawks most recently hosted Lincoln in a 67-54 victory. Previous to the Blue Tigers, the Riverhawks took a loss at home to #17 Central Missouri, 65-51.
 
Leading the scoring for Northeastern State is Halie Jones, a 5-10 5th-year Forward. Through 16 games, Jones averages 13.9 points per game on 44.9% shooting from the field and 50.0% from beyond the arch.

Two other Riverhawks average double-digit scoring, Courtney Lee (11.9) and Tor'e Alford (10.3). The leading rebounder for Northeastern State is Courtney Lee, who averages 6.3 rebounds per game.
