Lions Hit the Road to Take On Emporia State

Emporia, Kan. - The Missouri Southern Women's basketball team (12-4, 8-2 MIAA) will travel to Emporia, Kansas to take on the Lady Hornets of Emporia State in White Auditorium at 1:30 PM for a conference matchup. The MIAA conference leading Missouri Southern Lions most recently won their ninth-straight game against Washburn on the road, 69-50. Previous to the Ichabods, the Lions defeated Nebraska-Kearney, 72-56, and #15 Fort Hays State, 67-58, at home.

Scouting the Lions
The Lions will travel to Emporia, Kansas to take on the Lady Hornets of Emporia State. The MIAA conference leading Missouri Southern Lions most recently won their ninth-straight game against Washburn on the road, 69-50. Previous to the Ichabods, the Lions defeated Nebraska-Kearney, 72-56, and #15 Fort Hays State, 67-58, at home. 

Ryan Franklin led the Lions with her third 20-point game of the season with 20 points (9-13 FG, 2-2 FT), two assists and a block in the 19-point victory over the Ichabods. Brandi Hudson finished with 13 points (4-6 FG, 5-8 FT), nine rebounds and four steals.

Brandi Hudson leads the Lions in points per game with 11.7 ppg. Three other Lions average double-digit points per game as well, Kryslyn Jones (11.6), Ryan Franklin (11.6) and Kaitlin Hunnicutt (10.9). Ryan Franklin leads the rebounding category with 5.9 rpg.

Scouting the Lady Hornets
The Lady Hornets of Emporia State host Missouri Southern after a 9-7 (6-4 MIAA) start to their season. The Lady Hornets most recently hosted #25 Pittsburg State in a 71-59 upset victory. Previous to the Gorillas, the Lady Hornets went 1-1 on the road with a loss to #17 Central Missouri, 81-55, and a win over Lincoln, 68-62.

Leading the scoring for Emporia State is Faith Paramore, a 6-0 Senior Forward. Through 16 games, Paramore averages 13.8 points per game, which is 10th in the MIAA, on 33.7% shooting from the field and 23.3% from beyond the arch.

Two other Lady Hornets average near double-digit scoring, Queen Ulabo (9.7) and Gracie Gilpin  (9.7). The leading rebounder for Emporia State is Queen Ulabo, who averages 9.2 rebounds per game which is second in the MIAA.
