Women's Basketball Takes Eight-Game Win Streak Into Washburn

Topeka, Kan. - The Missouri Southern Women's basketball team (11-4, 7-2 MIAA) will travel to Topeka, Kansas to take on the Ichabods of Washburn University in Lee Arena at 5:30 PM for a conference matchup. The Lions currently hold an MIAA-Leading eight-game win streak with recent victories over Nebraska-Kearney, 72-56, #15 Fort Hays State, 67-58, #13 Pittsburg State, 71-65, #18 Drury, 80-57, Lincoln, 76-57, and #3 Central Missouri, 78-66.

Scouting the Lions
The Lions will travel to Topeka, Kansas to take on the Ichabods of Washburn. The Lions most recently won their eighth-straight game against Nebraska-Kearney at home, 72-56, and claimed sole possession of first place in the MIAA. Previous to the Lopers, the Lions defeated #15 Fort Hays State, 67-58, #13 Pittsburg State, 71-65, #18 Drury, 80-57, Lincoln, 76-57, and #3 Central Missouri, 78-66.

Ryan Franklin finished with 14 points (6-9 FG), three rebounds and two blocks in the 16-point victory over the Lopers. Kryslyn Jones also posted 14 points (5-9 FG, 4-5 3P), three assists and two rebounds.

Kryslyn Jones leads the Lions in points per game with 12.1 ppg. Three other Lions average double-digit points per game as well, Brandi Hudson (11.6), Kaitlin Hunnicutt (11.4) and Ryan Franklin (11.0). Ryan Franklin leads the rebounding category with 6.2 rpg.

Scouting the Ichabods
The Ichabods of Washburn University host Missouri Southern after a 10-5 (5-4 MIAA) start to their season. Before the Ichabods lost their two most recent games on the road to #17 Central Missouri, 84-71, and Lincoln, 77-64, they had gone on a three-game win streak with wins over Northeastern State, 75-56, Central Oklahoma, 64-62, and Newman, 84-58. 
 
Leading the scoring for Washburn is Aubree Dewey, a 5-7 Senior Guard. Through 15 games, Dewey averages 15.9 points per game, which is seventh in the MIAA, on 47.0% shooting from the field and 38.2% from beyond the arch.

Two other Ichabods average double-digit scoring, Yiibari Nwidadah (13.3) and Aniah Wayne (10.4). The leading rebounder for Washburn is Yiibari Nwidadah, who averages an MIAA-leading 9.9 rebounds per game.
