Dallas, Texas - The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association released the Division II National Players of the Week on Thursday Apr. 6th with
Treghan Parker being named the National Hitter of the Week for the first time in his career. Parker is the second Lion this season to be named NCBWA National Hitter of the Week and the third player in program history to earn National Player of the Week honors by the organization.
This past week the sophomore utility player from Webb City, Mo. hit .429 with six home runs, 15 RBIs, 11 runs scored while slugging 1.286 with an on-base percentage of .520 for a 1.806 OPS. In the weekend series opener against Fort Hays State Parker hit three home runs to tie a program record for single-game homers and followed that up with a seven RBI game with a homer against the Tigers in game two to become the 11th player in program history to have a game with seven or more RBIs. In the non-conference game against SWOSU he hit two home runs and was walked twice to end up with five RBIs and four runs scored.
Up next for Parker and the No. 4 Lions will be the No. 18 Central Missouri Mules in a three game conference series beginning on Thursday Apr. 6th at 6:00pm from Warren Turner Field.
