Maryville, Mo. - The Missouri Southern baseball team wrapped up the weekend series against Northwest Missouri on Sunday from Bearcat Baseball Field dropping a 6-4 decision but claiming the series win after beating the Bearcats in the first two games.
The Lions (13-6, 4-2 MIAA) were led by
Chayton Beck going 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBIs,
Owen Schneider got the start and pitched five inning in the no decision while striking out two.
Northwest Missouri (3-14, 1-5 MIAA) were led by Ryan Koski going 2-for-3 with three runs scored and two RBIs as Jacob Gajic got the win after three innings of relief.
Southern would get on the score board in the third inning with a double steal by
Garrett Rice for second and
Nate Mieszkowski at home tying it up 1-1, in the fourth Beck singled home
Will Doherty to grab a 2-1 lead. Northwest Missouri scored in the fifth and sixth innings to take a 4-2 lead but a two run homer by Beck in the seventh tied it up 4-4.
The Bearcats would get ahead from a Koski homer and score again in the eighth for the 6-4 final score.
Up next for the Lions will be a home weekend series against Central Oklahoma beginning on Friday Mar. 10th and going until Sunday Mar. 12th with three games being played at Warren Turner Field.
