All-MIAA Court
This season four Lions were named All-MIAA in
Lacy Stokes,
Madi Stokes,
Kryslyn Jones and
Layne Skiles. Lacy was a repeat first-teamer and All-Defensive selection as Madi earned her third All-MIAA and All-Defensive honors of her career. Jones and Skiles were first time honorees for All-MIAA. Lacy leads the team in scoring, free throws made, assists, assist-turnover ratio and steals. Madi leads the team in rebounds and blocks, Jones leads the team in threes made and three point percentage and Skiles ranks in teh top-three in the team for field goal percentage, three point percentage, threes made, free throw percentage, rebounds, assists, steals and blocks.
Lions In The MIAA Tournament
Historically the Lions are 15-25 in the MIAA Tournament, 8-14 in the quarterfinals and 2-1 against Pittsburg State. Southern has made four championship appearances with two titles coming in 1994 and 1996. As the fifth seed the Lions are 2-4 and are looking to make it to the programs ninth appearance in the semifinals.
Look At History Against PSU At MIAA Tournament
Southern picked up the first win of the series in the 1993 tournament with a 71-57 win in the semifinals and in the second meeting came away 69-65 winners in the 2002 quarterfinals in Pittsburg, Kan. The Gorillas came away withe their first win in the series with a 61-57 overtime game in the 2011 quarterfinals with Jasmine Lovejoy scoring a Missouri Southern tournament record 33 points.
