Lions Ready For Hillcats In Midweek Action

Joplin, Mo. - The Missouri Southern baseball program will host Rogers State in a midweek MIAA game on Tuesday Mar. 14th at Warren Turner Field with first pitch set for 6:00pm.

The Lions (16-6, 7-2 MIAA) are led by Nate Mieszkowski with a .421 average, 31 runs scored, 40 hits, six doubles, eight home runs and 27 RBIs while slugging .758 with a .491 on-base percentage. Garrett Rice has a .376 average with 27 runs, 35 hits, five doubles, seven home runs and 24 RBIs with a .677 slugging percentage and .455 on-base percentage. Matt Miller is hitting .345 with 22 runs, 29 hits, nine home runs for 28 RBIs while slugging .714. Will Doherty is hitting .341 with 18 runs, 28 hits, seven doubles, three home runs for 20 RBIs, Henry Kusiak and Tyler Ferguson round those that meet requirements hitting above .300 with Kusiak hitting .311 and Ferguson at .303. On the mound Cole Woods, Owen Schneider and Trent Harris have started the most games with Woods having a 3.89 ERA in 34.2 innings with 39 strikeouts, Schenider has a 5.92 ERA in 24.1 with 21 strikeouts and Harris has a 8.04 ERA in 15.2 innings with 17 strikeouts. Laif Hultine leads the staff with 12 appearances from the bullpen with three saves, 11.2 inning with 10 strikeouts and opponents hitting .190. 

Rogers State (15-6, 4-5 MIAA) is led by Prescott Horn with a .415 average, 34 hits, seven doubles and 27 RBIs while slugging .573 with a .505 on-base percentage. Gavin Mestas is hitting .326 with 26 runs scored, 28 hits, seven doubles and five home runs for 19 RBIs to slug .605. Jesse Holguin is hitting .308 with 24 hits, five doubles, 17 RBIs. On the mound Andres De Leon, Rece Parker and Giancarlo Cortez have started five games with De Leon having a 3.81 ERA in 28.1 innings for 22 strikeouts, Parker has a 4.80 ERA in 30.0 innings and Cortez has a 8.06 ERA in 25.2 innings. Colton Anderson leads the bullpen with 20.2 innings of work while striking out 12. 

Following this midweek game the Lions will travel to Topeka, Kan. to play Washburn in a three game weekend series against the Ichabods. The schedule for the weekend will be on Friday a 5:00pm start, Saturday at 2:00pm and conclude the series on Sunday with a 1:00pm start time at Falley Field.
