Kansas City, Mo. - Missouri Southern senior pitcher Cole Woods was announced as the MIAA Pitcher of the Week by the league office today.

Woods got the start in the season opener for the Lions and picked up the win after six dominant shutout innings with nine strikeouts against (RV) St. Cloud State while having a .83 WHIP and the Huskies hitting a lowly .150 against him. Woods also became the 14th Lion in program history to eclipse 150 career strikeouts with his performance against SCSU and is 24 strikeouts away from cracking the top-ten in program history.

Woods and the Lions will be back in action this week with trips to Arkadelphia, Ark. to play Henderson State on Feb. 9th and traveling to Cleveland, Miss. to play Delta State on Feb. 10th and 11th.
