Men 2nd & Women 3rd To Finish MIAA Indoor Championships

Pittsburg, Kan. – The Missouri Southern track and field programs concluded the MIAA Indoor Championships with eight earning All-MIAA honors and two school records being broken from the last day of action inside the Robert W. Plaster Center. The men finished second with 100.50 points and the women were third with 87.67 points.

60m Hurdles

  • Kiara Smith won the women's event with a school, facility and MIAA Indoor Championships record time of 8.20 for the second fastest time in Division II this season. Cornesia Calhoun-White finished seventh in the event with an NCAA Qualifying time of 8.65 seconds.
  • In the men's event Maksym Andurukhiv (8.00), Malachi Pipkin (8.03) and JaDarius Pigg (8.06) finished, fifth, sixth, seventh with NCAA Qualifying times. The trio's times are good for the second, third and fourth fastest time in program history.


3000m Run

  • Ryan Riddle won the men's event with a MIAA Indoor Championships record time of 7:57.96 to shatter the previous MIAA Indoor Championships record set last year by Riddle at 8:06.33 and is the third fastest time in program history. Riley Simpson (8:31.75), Jaden Deaton (8:35.38) and Geordan Patrylak (8:52.84) finished, 12th, 15th and 32nd in the event.
  • In the women's event Jayna Gunter earned All-MIAA honors after finishing second with a personal best time of 10:03.09. Lilah Genel finished fourth with a time of 10:07.29 as Riley Vickrey (10:16.03) and Kelie Henderson (10:35.74) finished 11th and 17th in the event.


200m Dash

  • Smith picked up her second event win of the day with a personal best and NCAA Qualifying time of 23.99 seconds, the fourth fastest time in program history.


Shot Put

  • Samariae Bonds won the women's event with an NCAA Qualifying mark of 14.77m.
  • In the men's event Cedric Pearson and Jordan Garr earned All-MIAA laurels after finishing second and third in the event with NCAA Qualifying marks. Pearson's mark is a personal record at 17.52m as Garr had a mark of 17.49m.


Triple Jump

  • Taris Jackson earned All-MIAA honors after finishing second in the men's event with an NCAA Qualifying and personal best mark of 15.18m. Peyton McBride finished sixth with an NCAA Qualifying mark of 14.67m.
  • In the women's event Precious Olatunji finished ninth with a mark of 11.41m and Jennifer Okeke came in 12th with a mark of 10.54m.


Mile Run

  • Kelie Henderson earned All-MIAA honors after finishing second in the women's event with a time of 4:58.89. Kayanna Gaines finished in ninth with a time of 5:05.98.
  • In the men's event Simpson narrowly missed out on All-MIAA honors after finishing fourth with an NCAA Qualifying time of 4:06.77 and was the ninth fastest time in program history. Zachary Finley finished in 13th with a time of 4:20.56.


400m Dash

  • LaNea Wallace (55.56) and Chardae Overstreet (55.59) finished fourth and fifth in the women's event with NCAA Qualifying times. Wallace's time is the fourth fastest in program history and Overstreet's the sixth fastest.


800m Run

  • Kelton Sorrell (1:51.68) and Gabe McClain (1:51.72) finished fifth and sixth in the men's event with NCAA Qualifying times. Sorrell and McClain now have the top-two times in program history in the event.


4x400m Relay

  • The women's relay team of Mya Ferguson, Wallace, Smith and Overstreet finished fifth in the event with an NCAA Qualifying time of 3:47.86 for the second fastest time in program history.
  • The men's relay team of Simon Siebert, McClain, Sorrell and Jacob Breedlove finished eighth with a time of 3:20.89.


Pole Vault

  • In the men's event Bryan Candrl finished sixth and Elliot Rule tied for seventh in the event with both having an NCAA Qualifying mark of 4.77m.
