Joplin, Mo. - The Missouri Southern baseball program picked up a 20-1 victory over East Central at Warren Turner Field on Tuesday.
The Lions (7-2) had four hit home runs, seven individuals have doubles while
Ryan Doran finished going 2-for-3 with six RBIs to lead the team.
Garrett Rice and
Matt Miller both picked up three RBIs and scored four runs with Rice going 4-for-5 and Miller going 3-for-3.
Cale McCallister picked up his second win of the season with four shutout innings scattering three hits and striking out two.
Steen Lane,
Jeremiah Kennedy and
Eli Stoops pitched the last three innings to close the game.
East Central (2-5) got an RBI double out of Dawerlyn Amancio as Price Daube picked up the loss with 0.2 innings and seven runs scored.
In the first inning the Lions would bat around the order and get eight runs across with a Nate Mieszkowki home run to left center capping off the scoring in the inning. The second inning saw Doran homer to center field to score
Henry Kusiak and Miller for an 11-0 advantage after two innings.
Doran would double to left center in the third to score Miller and Rice and a
Tyler Ferguson double down the left field line scored Doran later on in the inning for an 14-0 lead. The fourth inning saw a three run homer by Miller and the fifth had a three run homer by Rice to finish the scoring for the Lions at 20-0.
The Tigers would get one run across in the sixth but that was the final run of the game in an 20-1 run rule victory for Southern.
Up next for the Lions will be McKendree in the Missouri Southern Invitational hosted at Warren Turner Field, first pitch is set for 4:00pm on Feb. 17th.
