Lions To Host East Central

Joplin, Mo. - The Missouri Southern baseball program is set to host East Central tomorrow with first pitch from Warren Turner Field set for 2:00pm.

The Lions (6-2) as a team are hitting .271 with 6.8 runs and 8.6 hits per game and as a pitching staff has a 4.64 ERA with 8.0 strikeouts per game and opponents hitting .241. Matt Miller leads the team with a .370 average, three home runs, nine RBIs, 21 total bases and .778 slugging percentage. Henry Kusiak and Tyler Ferguson are hitting .333 with Ferguson collecting seven RBIs and scoring seven runs while Kusiak has two home runs, five RBIs, scored six runs and has provided 20 assists from shortstop. On the mound, Cole Woods leads the team with 9.1 innings and 12 strikeouts as opponents are hitting .278 against him. Owen Schneider has pitched 9.0 innings with 11 strikeouts as opponents are hitting .194 against him. Laif Hultine has made four appearances from the bullpen for 3.2 innings and four strikeouts while opponents are hitting .133 against him. Kyle Kaempf and Jacob Davis have made three appearances out of the bullpen with both recording a save and opponents hitting under .270 against them.

East Central (2-4) as a team is hitting .190 with 4.8 runs and 6.0 hits per game and as a pitching staff has an 8.76 ERA with 7.2 strikeouts per game and opponents hitting .336. Nolan Herchock is the only hitter averaging above .333 with a team-high eight hits with five RBIs, .583 slugging percentage and a .385 on base percentage. Duncan Key has a team-high six RBIs from four hits, Dawerlyn Amancio has five RBIs with all three of his hits so far being for extra bases in the form of two doubles and a home run. On the mound Carson Thomas has pitched 12.0 innings with nie strikeouts while opponents are hitting .354 against him. Bryan Terry is second on the team with 11.1 innings pitched and has 14 strikeouts to lead the team. Bryce Crawford, Colt Bartling and Kaleb Dent have all made three appearances from the bullpen this season as all three have allowed opponents to hit .275 or higher against them.

Following this game against the Tigers, the Lions will host the Missouri Southern Invitational from Friday, Feb. 17th - Sunday, Feb. 19th at Warren Turner Field.
