Lions Head to Jefferson City to Take On Lincoln

Jefferson City, Mo. - The Missouri Southern Women's basketball team (6-4, 3-2 MIAA) is set to compete in game two of a four-game road trip against the Blue Tigers of Lincoln (4-4, 1-2 MIAA) for a conference matchup in Jefferson City, Missouri on Saturday, December 16, at 1:00 PM coming off a 78-66 victory to upset #3 Central Missouri in Warrensburg on Thursday, December 14.

Scouting the Lions
The Lions continue conference play on the road against the Blue Tigers of Lincoln University after previously upsetting the number three nationally ranked Central Missouri Jennies 78-66 in Warrensburg. Prior to UCM, the Lions hosted their first two games of the season in blowout wins against Newman, 97-56, and Central Oklahoma, 86-65. The Lions began MIAA play on the road in losses to Northwest Missouri, 69-59, and Missouri Western, 73-55.

Brandi Hudson led the Lions in scoring with 19 points (7-8 FG, 5-5 FT) against #3 UCM. Kaitlin Hunnicutt was everywhere, posting 13 points (4-12 FG, 2-2 FT), eight assists, six rebounds, four steals and one block on zero turnovers. Ryan Franklin and Maggie Sockey both scored 13 points as well on the win. 

Kryslyn Jones leads the Lions in points per game with 12.6 ppg. Three other Lions average double-digit points per game as well, Kaitlin Hunnicutt (12.3), Brandi Hudson (11.9) and Ryan Franklin (11.5). Franklin leads the rebounding category with 6.9 rpg.

Scouting the Blue Tigers
The Blue Tigers of Lincoln University entered MIAA play after going 3-2 in non-conference play. The Blue Tigers began conference play on the road with a close win over Newman, 70-67, but losing the following game to Central Oklahoma, 71-64. Most recently, the Blue Tigers hosted #3 Central Missouri which resulted in a 66-46 loss. This game hosting Missouri Southern will be game two of a four game homestand.

Leading the scoring for Lincoln is Ashlyn Alloway, a 5-11 sophomore guard. Through eight games, Alloway is averaging 16.5 points per game on 54.0% shooting from the field. She also leads the team in rebounds, averaging 8.4 rebounds per game.

The next leading scorer, and only other double-digit scoring average, for the Blue Tigers is Steph Torres, who averages 12.8 points per game.
