Missouri Southern Back on the Road to Take on #3 Central Missouri

Warrensburg, Mo. - The Missouri Southern Women's basketball team (5-4, 2-2 MIAA) is set to hit the road again to take on the #3 Jennies of Central Missouri (8-0, 3-0 MIAA) for a conference matchup in Warrensburg, Missouri on Thursday, December 14, at 5:30 PM coming off a 97-56 victory over Newman at home on Saturday, December 9.

Scouting the Lions
The Lions continue conference play against the #3 Jennies of Central Missouri after previously defeating Newman, 97-56, and Central Oklahoma, 86-65, in dominant wins at home. Prior to UCO, the Lions began conference play on the road, losing both conference games against Missouri Western, 73-55, and Northwest Missouri, 69-59. 

Kryslyn Jones led the Lions with 22 points (8-13 FG, 4-4 FT) and a career-high nine rebounds in the 41-point victory over Newman. Kaitlin Hunnicutt finished with her second consecutive 20-point game, posting 21 points (5-11 FG, 8-9 FT) after obtaining her career-high in the previous game (25).

Kryslyn Jones leads the Lions in points per game with 12.8 ppg. Three other Lions average double-digit points per game as well, Kaitlin Hunnicutt (12.2), Ryan Franklin (11.3) and Brandi Hudson (11.0). Franklin leads the rebounding category with 7.3 rpg.

Scouting the Jennies
The Jennies of Central Missouri are off to a perfect start to their season as they are currently ranked number three in both the AP and coaches polls in Division-II Women's Basketball, and are tied for first in the MIAA. The Jennies are a perfect 3-0 in the MIAA as they have defeated Central Oklahoma, 63-47, Newman, 87-51, and most recently Lincoln, 66-46, all on the road. Two Jennies have previously been named MIAA players of the week, in back-to-back weeks as well, in Olivia Nelson and Brooke Littrell.

Leading the scoring for Central Missouri is Brooke Littrell, a 6-2 redshirt junior forward. Through eight games, Littrell is currently second in the MIAA in scoring, averaging 18.9 points per game on 43.3% shooting from the field. She is also second in the MIAA in rebounds per game, averaging 9.8 rebounds per game.

The next leading scorer for the Jennies is Olivia Nelson, who averages 14.6 points per game. Graycen Holden is the only other Jenny to average double-digits in scoring with 10.0 points per game.
