Kansas City, Mo. - Following the team's indoor season opener,
Peyton Barton was named Co-MIAA Indoor Field Athlete of the Week, announced by the conference office Tuesday afternoon.
Barton picked up where he left off last year, claiming first place in the weight throw event. At the Crimson & Gold Invitational on Saturday, Barton threw an NCAA qualifying distance of 21.71m, nearly two full meters more than second place. That throw currently ranks first among all NCAA Division II athletes, 1.32m more than the second best throw this year.Â
The Missouri Southern track & field teams will be back in action on January 13, competing in Lincoln, Nebraska and Manhattan, Kansas.Â
