Kearney, Neb. – Wrapping up this week's road trip, the Lion volleyball team was up in Nebraska to face the #9 ranked Lopers of Nebraska-Kearney. The hosts went on to win the match 3-0, moving MSSU to 12-8 (5-6 MIAA). 

In the opening set, the Lions and Lopers were neck and neck midway through the set, but UNK took control and won 25-15. The second set had a similar story, Nebraska-Kearney taking over midway for a 25-12 score. Using that momentum, the Lopers took the match with a 25-13 third set victory.

Leading the Lions with 7 kills was Fernanda Canedo. Amelia Neels had 4 kills and 5 block assists in the match. The digs category was led by Kyla Randall (16) and Southern's assists leader was Landrey VanOverschelde (12).

MSSU will break up this road trip and the next road trip with a mid-week home contest against Northwest Missouri State. That match is scheduled for Tuesday, October 17 at 6:00 PM.
