Lions Travel To Northeastern State And Rogers State

Joplin, Mo. – The Missouri Southern soccer program hits the road this week taking on Northeastern State and Rogers State this week in MIAA action.

This week's schedule see's the Lions take on the RiverHawks in Tahlequah from DeLoache Field on September 30thwith kick off set for 7:00pm. To finish the week the Lions will be in Claremore to take on the Hillcats on October 2ndwith kick off from Soldier Field set for 1:00pm. 

The Lions (1-8, 1-2 MIAA) are coming off a 4-0 win over Newman and a lost to #12 Central Oklahoma at home last week and moved into a tie for seventh on points level with Emporia State and Northwest Missouri. Kylie Stonestreet leads the team with two goals and an assist with eight shots fires, four being shots on goal. Ella Durocher has scored two goals as well this season tying Stonestreet for the team lead in that category. Mackenzie Scholtz leads the team with 15 shots fired and along with Ashley Koepp (14) and Mia Barkyoumb (11) have double digit shots this season. Aisley Stevens leads the team with seven shots on goal this season and has nine shots total. Lilly Doneghue has staked claim to the starting goalie spot with 26 saves in five games, a 1.80 GAA with a shutout and a save percentage of .743. Riley Laver is also capable of going in goal with 25 saves in four games this season.

Northeastern State (3-1-6, 0-1-2 MIAA) is coming off a week where the RiverHawks tied Emporia State 2-2 and Washburn 0-0 and are currently tenth on points in the MIAA. Myka Heimbach is the leading goal scorer for the team this year with four goals off 27 shots with 12 being on goal to lead the team. Payton Lieb is second on the team with three goals from 16 shots with 10 being on goal. Hannah Stettler and Sydney Taylor have both scored twice and assisted three times this season and alongside Lieb have a game winning goal. Ainsley Cunningham has appeared in five games in goal and has recorded 17 saves, three shutouts a 2-0-2 record and has allowed only four goals for a 0.81 GAA. Rebecca Partyka has played in six games for the RiverHawks and has 18 saves, two shutouts to go with a 1-1-3 record while allowing six goals and has a 1.19 GAA.

Rogers State (4-3-3, 1-1-1 MIAA) is coming off a week where the Hillcats lost to Washburn 1-0 before tying Emporia State 1-1 and are tied for sixth on points in the MIAA. Leading the charge this season Maggie Brown has four goals off 25 shots with 15 being on goal and has two game winning goals. Hannah Schulze is second on the team with three goals in only seven shots with four being on goal and has a game winning goal as well. Mackenzie Smith, Libby Doyle and Ashton Shepperson are tied for the team lead with an assist each this season with Smith also scoring once this year. Tiffanny Brittan has played in six games in goal with four shutouts for a 3-1-2 record allowing only two goals for a 0.33 GAA and has recorded 17 saves. Cambree Towle has appeared in four games in goal and has a shutout to go with a 1-2-1 record with five goals allowed for a 1.25 GAA and 22 saves.

Following this weekend, the Lions will be back in Joplin where Southern will host Washburn and Emporia State. The Ichabods will be down in Joplin on October 7th with kick off set for 6:00pm at Hal Bodon Field and the Hornets will make the trip on October 9th with a 2:00pm kickoff from Hal Bodon Field.
