Joplin, Mo. – The Missouri Southern baseball team will play host to Rogers State in a mid-week MIAA matchup tomorrow evening at Warren Turner Field.

The Lions (18-12, 9-7 MIAA) took two-of-three from Emporia State this past weekend, coming just short of a three-game sweep after falling in extra innings in the series finale yesterday.
Southern is hitting .309 as a team, with a 5.56 ERA.
Tommy Stevenson leads the way with a .422 batting average as he has 43 hits and 33 runs scored, with seven doubles, three triples, 12 home runs and 33 RBIs. He is slugging .902 and carries a .524 on-base percentage.
Henry Kusiak is hitting .351 with four homers and 25 RBIs, while
Nate Mieszkowski hits .326.
Clay Milas (.326) and
Jordan Fitzpatrick (.320) are part of five Lions in the starting lineup with an average above .300, while
Matt Miller (.299) and
Ryan Doran (.286) are are just shy of making it seven. Miller has nine home runs and 29 RBIs, while Doran has seven long balls and 25 runs batted in. Freshman
Treghan Parker has eight homers and is second on the team with 33 RBIs.
Logan VanWey is 3-2 on the season and is coming off his second-straight scoreless outing as he allowed just two hits over six innings in a win at ESU this past weekend. He has a team-high 66 strikeouts this season which leads the MIAA and ranks fifth nationally.
Jacob Davis is 4-0 and has 33 strikeouts, while
Cole Woods is 2-2 with 50 strikeouts in 34 innings pitched.
Cale McCallister leads the bullpen with a 2-0 record and a 1.80 ERA. He has struck out 23 batters in 25 innings pitched.
The Lions rank second in Division II in home runs, while ranking fourth in triples, fifth in doubles and eighth in slugging. The pitching staff ranks 19
th naitonlly and leads the MIAA in shutouts, while leading the MIAA in strikeout to walk ratio.
Stevenson is seventh nationally in home runs, fifth in total bases, and 11
th in slugging, while
Jordan Fitzpatrick ranks third in sacrifice flies and seventh nationally doubles. Kusiak ranks 11
th nationally in triples, while
Scott Duensing (2
nd),
Cale McCallister (3
rd) and
Ryan Paschal (3
rd) all rank in the top-three nationally in appearances. VanWey ranks ninth in starts and fifth in strikeouts.
Rogers State (15-14, 9-7 MIAA) lost all three this last weekend at Central Missouri, but the Hillcats took the first meeting between the two teams in extra-innings.
Jesse Holguin leads the way with a .389 batting average and 31 RBIs, while Joel Escalante has a team-high four home runs. Jordan Ewig is 4-3 on the season with a 3.91 ERA and 42 strikeouts in 50.2 innings, while Zaccary Whisler has a team-best 3.37 ERA.
