Ada, Okla. – The Missouri Southern baseball team got a pair of home runs from
Tommy Stevenson and scored six runs in the fourth inning en route to an 11-0 win in seven innings at East Central today in non-conference action.
The Lions (9-7) got a huge day at the plate from Stevenson as the sophomore went 3-for-5 with four RBIs, three runs scored, two home runs and a double.
Jordan Fitzpatrick was 3-for-5 with a pair of RBIs, a run scored and a home run, while
Nate Mieszkowski was 3-for-3 with an RBI and two runs scored.
Matt Miller had two hits a triple and two RBIs, while
Drew Davis went 2-for-4 with a home run, a triple and two runs scored.
Cole Gayman started and went five innings, striking out eight and allowing just two hits to move his record to 3-1 on the season.
Ryan Paschal and
Scott Duensing each threw an inning in relief.
ECU (1-13) had four players with a hit each.
Stevenson started the scoring in the first with the first of his two home runs on the day. Mieszkowski singled home both Stevenson and Fitzpatrick in the third to make the score 3-0, before the Lions opened it up in the fourth.
Clay Milas doubled home Davis to start the scoring and Stevenson followed that up with home run number two, scoring Milas. Fitzpatrick added a home run to score Kusiak and Miller singled home Mieszkowski for the final run of the inning.
Davis added his home run in the fifth and Miller tripled home Mieszkowski in the sixth before Stevenson added an RBI double to score Milas.
The Lions will be back in action this weekend as Southern plays host to Northwest Missouri for a three-game set beginning Friday at Warren Turner Field.
