Joplin, Mo. – The Missouri Southern baseball team will be back in action this weekend as the Lions play host to the MIAA/GLVC Crossover inside Warren Turner Field.
Games will take place over the course of Saturday, Sunday and Monday with the Lions welcoming in Quincy, Illinois-Springfield and Truman from the GLVC, as well as MIAA foes Northwest Missouri and Missouri Western.
Southern (3-5) will take on Quincy on Saturday at 1 pm as part of three games on the opening day. The Lions will then play a double-header at 9 am on Sunday morning against Truman, before finishing off the Tournament with a single game against Illinois-Springfield on Monday afternoon at 1 pm.

The Lions are coming off a hard-luck trip to Florida where hitting was at a premium.
Jordan Fitzpatrick leads the offense for the Green and Gold as he carries a .394 average with nine runs, 13 hits, six doubles and six RBIs, while carting a .447 on-base percentage.
Clay Milas is hitting .393 with seven RBIs and 11 hits, while freshman
Treghan Parker is averaging .389 with a pair of home runs and eight RBIs.
Ryan Doran hits .348, while
Tommy Stevenson and
Henry Kusiak are both hitting .333 with Stevenson having team-highs in home runs (4) and RBIs (11), while Kusiak has a pair of homers and seven RBIs.
Nate Mieszkowski is the seventh Lion in the starting lineup with a .300 averag or better as he has nine hits and six RBIs on the season.
Cole Woods leads the way on the mound for the Lions with a 1-1 record and a 3.86 ERA this season. He has 16 strikeouts and just three walks in 9.1 innings pitched and opponents are hitting just .194 against the righty.
Logan VanWey has made the transition from closer to starter and has 11 strikeouts on the season, while
Jacob Davis has added ten punchouts and
Chase Beiter has eight. All four should see a start for the Lions on the mound this weekend.
Laif Hultine has 11 strikeouts in 7.1 innings out of the bullpen this year, while
Scott Duensing leads the team in appearances with six and has picked off a pair of runners on the basepaths already.
Action starts tomorrow morning at 10 am with Missouri Western taking on Illinois-Springfield.
