Joplin, Mo. – The Missouri Southern soccer program will host Washburn and Emporia State this weekend at Hal Bodon Field as MIAA play heats up.
The Lions (1-9-1, 1-3-1 MIAA) will be honoring seniors

Riley Laver,
Aisley Stevens and
Ashley Koepp pregame tomorrow against Washburn with kickoff set for 6:00pm. Emporia State will be in Joplin on Sunday to take on Southern with kickoff set for 2:00pm. The Lions are currently tied with Missouri Western on points for ninth place in the MIAA standings after last weeks results on the road losing to Northeastern State 1-0 on Friday before tying 1-1 against Rogers State on Sunday. Kylie Stonestreet with Koepp and Stonestreet also providing one assist each.
Jori Hays is the top assister with two this season and is the only Lion to have multiple assists. Three Lions have had 10 or more shots this season in Koepp (20),
Mackenzie Scholtz (18) and
Mia Barkyoumb (13).
Lilly Doneghue has started in the last seven games and has a 1.57 GAA with 11 goals allowed and 41 saves while having a shutout and a 1-5-1 record.
Washburn (8-2-2, 3-1-1 MIAA) is currently tied with Central Oklahoma for third in the MIAA standings on points after beating Missouri Western 1-0 on Friday and losing to Northwest Missouri 1-0 on Sunday in Topeka. Jaedyn Johnson leads the charge with five goals and one assist with 10 shots on goal from 17 shots and a game winning goal. Khloe Schuckman has provided a team-high three assists while also scoring three times with 16 shots on goal from 35 shots and has a game winning goal. Belle Kennedy (4) and Riley Wells (2) are the other Ichabods to score more than once this season. Raegan Wells has allowed eight goals in 12 games for a 0.67 GAA while having 41 saves, six shutouts and a 8-2-2 record.
Emporia State (4-4-4, 2-0-3 MIAA) is currently fifth in the MIAA standings after beating Northwest Missouri 3-2 on Friday and 6-0 against Missouri Western on Sunday in Emporia. Mackenzie Dimarco is the constant threat for the Hornets after becoming the first women's soccer player in MIAA history to record back-to-back hat tricks last week to earn MIAA Offensive Player of the Week, and for the season has 11 goals and one assist for 23 points while having 28 shots on goal out of 46 shots and three game winning goals. The attack is not just Dimarco as Hannah Woolery has provided seven goals and four assists for 18 points with 18 shots on goal from 29 shots, Aislinn Hughes (3) and Haley Sparks (2) are the other Hornets to record more than one goal this season. Tori Bailey and Mackenzi Goen have split time in goal with Bailey owning a 1.79 GAA with 24 saves in seven games for a 3-2-1 record. Goen has appeared in eight games and has a 1.40 GAA with 24 saves and a 1-2-3 record.
Up next for the Lions will be a road week to Fort Hays State and Nebraska – Kearney next weekend. Southern will be facing off with Fort Hays State in Hays, Kan. on Friday October 14
th with kickoff from FHSU Soccer Stadium set for 6:00pm. To close the week the Lions will be taking on the Lopers in Kearney, Neb on Sunday October 16
th with kickoff from Foster Field set for 1:00pm.
