Williams Hits Three Field Goals In Loss At Pitt State

Pittsburg, Kan. – Missouri Southern senior kicker Nick Williams went 3-for-3 in field goals, but offense was tough to come by today as the Lions' football team fell 38-9 at 10th-ranked Pittsburg State inside Carnie Smith Stadium.
 
The Lions (3-2, 3-2 MIAA) struggled offensively today, getting 241 yards of total offense. Williams hit field goals from 52, 24 and 42 with the 52-yarder being his longest of the season. Williams also had seven punts for an average of 46 yards, including a long of 72 and three inside the 20.
 
Dawson Herl was 10-of-17 for 139 yards in the air and 24 on the ground, while Nathan Glades had 60 yards on the ground. Ezekiel Lang caught four passes for 91 yards and had a long of 46 yards and 48 yards after the catch.
 
Defensively, Colton Winder had ten tackles, while Dylan Bolden had six and Jalen Dennis, Richard Jordan Jr., Solomon Garcia and Coleman Booker posted five each. The Southern defense held PSU (5-0, 5-0 MIAA) to just 10 points and 159 yards of total offense in the second half.
 
The Gorillas scored 14 points in the first quarter before the Lions got on the board with a 52-yard field goal from Williams. PSU added a pair of scores to lead 28-3 at halftime.
 
After a field goal from the Gorillas to open the third quarter, the Lions answered with a 24-yarder from Williams and Williams added a 42-yard field goal early in the fourth.
 
The Loins will be back in action next week as Southern plays host to Lincoln for Homecoming. Kickoff from Fred G. Hughes Stadium is set for 2 pm.
