Edmond, Okla. - The Missouri Southern softball program fell today against Central Missouri 7-0 at the Broncho Softball Field to begin the second week of the MIAA Tournament.
Central Missouri (33-11) got three unearned runs in the first inning to jump out to a 3-0 lead.
Sidnie Hurst hit a single to jumpstart the third inning for the Lions (30-14-1) and was moved over to second on a
Yazmin Vargas sacrifice before the Jennies got the third out to finish the top half of the inning.
The bottom half of the third inning began with a diving lineout grab by Josie Topfi, but the Jennies got a run later on in the innings. In the foruth inning,
Kara Amos got a strikeout befreo a
Ashlynn Williams - Tofpi caught stealing ended the inning.
Amos then led off the fifth inning with a single thtough the right side and
Kayla Arzate pitch ran for her after the hit.
Adrianna Young ripped a single to the left fielder to move Arzate over to second and a sacrifice moved both up to second and third base, before a ground out to the pitcher ended the top half of the inning.
In the bottom half of the fifth inning; Central Missouri got three more runs for insurancance across to put the final score to 7-0.
Amos, Young and Hurst got singles.
Abbey Gann threw a scoreless inning in relief striking out one, and Amos pitched 3.1 innings of relief as well.
Next up for the Lions will be Rogers State tomorrow at 2 pm at the Broncho Softball Field. The winner of this matchup will play the loser of Central Missouri-Central Oklahoma at 5 pm.
