Joplin, Mo. -- The Missouri Southern volleyball team will play a pair of matches this weekend as the Lions will be at home on Friday night against Emporia State and then travel to Central Missouri on Saturday afternoon.
Friday's match with the Hornets will have a first-serve at 6 pm, while the Saturday matchup in Warrensburg against the Jennies will start at 2 pm.
Southern (5-10, 4-3 MIAA) is coming off a match last night against Washburn where the Lions fell in three to the No. 13 Ichabods.
Janelle Brehm and
Alyssa Diaz paced the Lions as Brehm had 10 kills and nine digs to go along with four blocks, while Diaz posted ten kills, and a .444 attack average.
Sophie Mader dished out 28 assists and had seven digs, while
Abbie Casper had 12 digs.
Cassie Walton had seven digs of her own.
In the first matchup with the Jennies this season, the Lions took the then No. 24 ranked UCM (7-3, 7-0 MIAA) squad to five sets and eventually falling 15-12 in the final set at home. Southern fell 3-0 to Emporia State (2-10, 2-5 MIAA) in late February.
