Joplin, Mo. -- The 11th-ranked Missouri Southern baseball team will be at home this weekend, playing host to Newman University for a three-game set inside Warren Turner Field. 

The Lions and Jets were originally slated to play a single game on Friday and a double-header on Saturday, but that has been reversed with two games on Friday beginning at 2 pm and a single game on Saturday at 1 pm. 

Southern (18-6, 12-6 MIAA) is in the middle of three-straight weekends at home in the friendly confines of WT. The Lions lead the MIAA in doubles, shutouts, strikeout to walk ratio and strikeouts per nine innings, ranking sixth nationally in doubles, seventh in strikeout to walk ratio and ninth in home runs. Southern ranks in the top five of the MIAA in 19 different statistical categories. 

Individually, Will Bausinger and Zach Parish lead the league in games started, while Parish leads the MIAA in wins and strikeouts. Parish is second nationally in strikeouts while ranking sixth in wins. Parish leads Division II pitchers in career active wins (29), strikeouts (428) and games started (55), while leading all of NCAA baseball in strikeouts and starts and ranking second in wins. The Lions have six batters hitting over .300 on the season, led by Troy Gagan at .396. 

Newman is 5-12 overall and 4-11 in the MIAA. The Jets are led by Hayden VanDePol who is hitting .411 on the season with three home runs and 18 RBIs. Mitchell Austin has a team-high 22 RBIs, while two others have hit three home runs. Connor Langrell is 1-0 on the season with 21 strikeouts in 24 innings and carries a 4.88 ERA.
