Joplin, Mo. -- The Missouri Southern volleyball team dropped a heartbreaker three sets to two tonight as the Lions welcomed Newman into Young Gymnasium.
Southern (5-9, 4-3 MIAA) dropped the opening set, but won sets two and three to go up two to one. Newman responded and took the final two sets to take the match.
The Lions were led by
Janelle Brehm who had 27 kills and 26 digs, hitting .327 in the match.
Alyssa Diaz had 15 kills and hit .323 while
CC Pollard had 10 kills.
Sophie Mader dished out 63 assists, while
Abbie Casper and
Brooklynn McCain had 22 and 10 digs, respectively.
The Lions will be back in action next weekend when the Lions play at home on Wednesday night. First serve against Washburn is set for 6 pm.
