Joplin, Mo. – The Missouri Southern soccer program is set to take part this Thursday in the MIAA Tournament the first appearance for the Lions in the tournament since 2017.
The Lions (4-8, 1-4 MIAA) are matched up with the Bearcats of Northwest Missouri (3-3-1, 2-2 MIAA). This will be the 35
th matchup between the two teams as the Bearcats hold a 17-14-3 advantage overall and are 10-5-1 in Maryville.
Leading the Lions is
Bailey Belcher with five goals this season.
Maya Greenquist leads the team with four goals scored and three assists.
Carina Calderon and
Mackenzie Scholtz have scored two goals each and
Ashley Koepp and
Lily Spikereit have a goal this season as well.
Riley Laver has started every game this season keeping two shutouts this season.
The Bearcats are 1-2 at home this season and are coming into the contest on a two game winning streak beating Washburn in second overtime 3-2 and Fort Hays State 2-0.
Kickoff is slated for 3 pm from the Bearcat Pitch in Maryville with the winner of this game playing the winner of the contest between Rogers State and Fort Hays State Sunday.
