Tommy Stevenson has been named the Central Region Hitter of the Week as announced by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) the orginazation announced today.
Stevenson, a 6-3 native of St. Louis, helped Missouri Southern to a three-game sweep of Fort Hays State last week. He capped his week with a record-setting performance as he broke the MSSU single-game hit record and tied the MIAA record with six hits in a 6-for-7 performance in game three, driving in six and scoring three runs.
On the week, Stevenson hit .600, while slugging 1.267 and posting an on-base percentage of .625. He had nine hits, four runs, 13 RBIs, two doubles a triple and a home run during the week. Stevenson was also named the MIAA Hitter of the Week yesterday.
Stevenson and the Lions will be back in action this weekend, playing host to fifth-ranked Central Missouri in a matchup at Warren Turner Field on Friday and Saturday.
