Joplin, Mo. -- The Missouri Southern volleyball team will head to Topeka tomorrow as the Lions will take on both Nebraska-Kearney and Fort Hays State in a neutral site matchup at Washburn University.
The Lions (3-7, 3-2 MIAA) will take on Nebraska-Kearney at 10 am and then will face-off with FHSU at 2:30 pm.
Southern is coming off a heartbreaker on Thursday night as the Lions fell in a five-set thriller to No. 24 Central Missouri. The Lions were paced by
CC Pollard's performance as she hit .415 over the match with 20 kills and just three errors.
Janelle Brehm had 14 kills and 17 digs, while Mader dished out 44 assists and had 12 digs.
Abbie Casper had 28 digs, while
Brooklynn McCain had 11 ov her own.
Alyssa Diaz had 13 kills and two blocks, while Kierson Madew had seven blocks on the night.
UNK (8-2, 4-0 MIAA) is ranked 11th nationally and the Lopers have won the last four matches in a row, dropping only one set which came in a 3-1 win at Washburn. The Lopers will face both the Lions and Central Missouri on Saturday.
FHSU (2-4, 0-4 MIAA) has lost the last four matches in a row after opening the season with a pair of straight-set wins against Emporia State and Newman. The Tigers will face both Newman and the Lions on Saturday.
After this weekend, the Lions will come home to face Central Oklahoma and Newman next Friday and Saturday.
